Self - Pay

At Emerge Psychological Services, clients may choose to pay directly for therapy rather than using insurance. This is often called self-pay or private pay.

Self-pay can be a good option for clients who do not have insurance coverage, do not want to use their insurance benefits, have a high deductible, or prefer a more private and straightforward payment process.

Self-Pay Rates

Our current self-pay rates are:

Individual therapy: $160 per session

Couples or family therapy: $200 per session

Most therapy sessions are approximately 53–55 minutes.

Payment is due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made in advance. Payments are handled through our secure client portal/payment system.

Good Faith Estimate: If you are uninsured or choosing not to use insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of services before beginning therapy. A Good Faith Estimate is not a contract and does not require you to receive services. It is simply intended to help you understand the expected cost of care so you can make an informed decision.

Receipts and Payment Documentation

Upon request, we can provide documentation of payments made for self-pay services. If you are considering submitting information to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement, please contact your insurance plan directly first. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on your specific insurance benefits.

Why Choose Self-Pay?

Some clients choose self-pay because it allows them to begin therapy without waiting on insurance approval, network verification, or benefit processing. It can also simplify the therapy process by keeping payment direct and predictable.

When insurance is used, insurance companies may require a diagnosis, determine coverage rules, request certain documentation, or limit reimbursement based on the client’s plan. With self-pay, services are paid directly by the client and are not submitted to insurance by Emerge Psychological Services.

Missed Appointments and Cancellations

Because appointment times are reserved specifically for each client, cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice or missed appointments may be subject to a late cancellation/no-show fee according to our practice policy.

We know payment and insurance can feel confusing. If you are unsure whether self-pay or insurance is the better option for you, please contact us at (812) 227 - 6037 and we can help explain the basic differences so you can decide what works best for your situation.
